Doctoral Student Therapists

Treatment Team

All patients receive excellent care from a well-qualified treatment team at our university medical center. There are several therapists at our center that are working toward their doctoral degrees under the supervision of a senior psychologist. All doctoral students already have obtained a master's degree in clinical psychology. We can offer reduced fees for their services. Contact us to schedule an appointment.

Clinical Practicum Therapist

Amber Belcher, M.A., is a clinical practicum student at the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and doctoral student in clinical psychology at the University of Delaware. Her clinical interests include cognitive-behavioral treatment for adult anxiety disorders and psychological distress in cancer patients and their families. Ms. Belcher joins CTSA after two years of working at Christiana Care Health System's Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, where she worked with patients and families coping with cancer-related concerns. She also participates in research investigating the impact of cancer on the adjustment of patients and their families. At CTSA, she will work on a clinical bereavement project at Pennsylvania Hospital's Joan Karnell Cancer Center under the supervision of Dr. Tracey Lichner.

Research Practicum Therapist

Christina DiChiara, M.S. is a research practicum student at the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety where she sees patients for study evaluations and outpatient therapy. Christina is pursuing a Clinical Psy.D. from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) and is currently working on her dissertation and clinical practica. She is most interested in the research and treatment of anxiety disorders, trauma and post-traumatic stress, as well as mindfulness and mindfulness-based psychotherapies. Christina received a B.A. in History and Russian from Villanova University in Pennsylvania. Prior to her doctoral studies, Christina completed a M.S. in Counseling and Clinical Health Psychology from PCOM, which inspired her to pursue further graduate training in psychology.

Research Practicum Therapist

Marjie Crozier, M.S. is a research practicum student at the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety where she sees patients for study evaluations and outpatient therapy. She is a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology at LaSalle University. Her research and clinical interests are focused in the area of child and adult anxiety disorders, including obsessive compulsive disorder and posttraumatic stress disorder. She is in her second year at the CTSA.

Clinical Practicum Therapist

Elizabeth Goetter, M.S., is a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology at Drexel University. She received her Bachelor's degree from Regis University in Denver, Colorado and her Master's degree from Drexel University. Prior to joining CTSA, she completed clinical training at Friends Hospital in North Philadelphia and the Social Anxiety Treatment Program at Drexel University. Her research and clinical interests surround cognitive behavior therapy for the treatment of anxiety disorders, including mediators of psychotherapy outcome, the dissemination of evidence based treatments for anxiety, and mechanisms for facilitating behavioral treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder.

Rebecca Greif, M.A., is a fourth year doctoral student at Rutgers' Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP) program in clinical psychology. She received her BA in Psychology from Duke University in 2004. Rebecca's research interests are primarily focused on the dissemination and implementation of evidence-based psychological treatments in routine clinical care. She has treated patients with a wide range of pathology (i.e. anxiety disorders, mood disorders, eating disorders) in both inpatient and outpatient settings, utilizing a range of different treatment interventions (i.e. cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, family-based treatment for eating disorders).

Beth Mugno, M.A., received her bachelors degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill followed by a masters degree from Bryn Mawr College. She is presently a fifth year doctoral candidate in the Clinical Developmental Psychology program at Bryn Mawr, with an expected graduation date of May, 2012. Broadly, her clinical and research interests lie in the treatment and study of anxiety disorders in both children and adults, although in the past few years she has also workedin the Rose Tree Media public school system as a School Psychologist and at the Child Study Institute in Bryn Mawr as a Family Therapist. This year she will also be working at the Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania with families of children diagnosed with cancer. She is in her second year at the CTSA.

Melissa Peskin, M.Sc., M.A., is a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. She received a Master's degree in clinical psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007 and a Master's degree in psychology from Trinity College, Dublin in 2004. Prior to training at CTSA, Ms. Peskin completed practica at the Anxiety and Agoraphobia Treatment Center in Bala Cynwyd, PA, and the Center for Psychotherapy Research at the University of Pennsylvania. Ms. Peskin's research examines how chronic stress alters neurobiological functioning in children and adults, and how trauma, maltreatment, and abuse affect the neuroendocrine system. Her clinical interests include cognitive behavioral treatment of anxiety disorders in adults.

Victoria Popick, M.A., is an Independent Evaluator and a Master's level clinician at the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. She received her M.A. in clinical psychology from La Salle University in 2009 and is currently completing a Psy.D. in clinical psychology from the same school.
